Builder’s Den at the Winchburgh Community Growing Area
The Winchburgh Community Development Trust is delighted to share an update on one of our newest and most communitydriven initiatives: The Builder’s Den, based in the Auldcathie Park Growing Area.
About the Project
The Builder’s Den has been created to offer a welcoming space where local residents—particularly older men—can come together, socialise, learn practical skills, and take part in handson activities such as building, fixing, and growing. The project was developed in response to community feedback highlighting the need for more opportunities for men in the village to connect and engage in purposeful activities.
What the Builder’s Den Offers
- Group and individual projects, allowing participants to work together or pursue their own ideas using shared equipment and tools.
- A friendly, social environment to chat, collaborate, and support wellbeing.
- Opportunities to contribute to communitycentred creations, with hopes that future builds may be sold at local farmers markets to support further community activity.
- A partnership with the Winchburgh Community Growing Group, strengthening community links across the village.
When and Where
Sessions take place at the Auldcathie Park Growing Area on:
- Thursday, 14:00pm–16:00pm
Supported by Local Partners
The Builder’s Den has been generously supported through funding from:
- Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian (Mental Health Fund)
- National Lottery Community Fund
Local businesses have also stepped in to ensure the project continues to thrive, helping replace stolen tools and equipment to keep activities running smoothly.
Get Involved
The Builder’s Den is open to anyone who wants to learn new skills, share their time, or simply enjoy being part of a positive, handson community initiative. If you’re interested in joining us, please get in touch or come along to one of the weekly sessions.
